Etihad Guest award chart and sweet spots
Etihad Guest prices Etihad flights variably since June 30, 2018, with the miles shown at booking rather than in a chart, and periodic fixed-price "Promo" reward seats. Partner awards keep fixed charts published per partner on etihad.com, and the American Airlines chart, priced one way by distance, is the reason most points collectors hold Etihad miles.
Amex no longer transfers to Etihad Guest (ended June 30, 2026); Citi, Capital One and Marriott still do, and Aeroplan also books Etihad flights from its own chart.

Domestic first (business on the chart) under 500 miles one way, cheaper than AAdvantage's own dynamic pricing on peak dates.
American transcontinental Flagship Business
40,000 miles
1,501 to 2,000 miles one way, so New York to Los Angeles in lie-flat business is 40,000 miles when saver space is open.
American economy under 500 miles
6,000 miles
Short domestic hops one way; the cheapest published price for AA flights outside British Airways Avios.
Etihad Promo rewards

Etihad marks selected seats on its own flights at fixed promotional prices in the booking engine, often well below the variable rate.
Fees and surcharges
- Taxes and fuel surcharges are collected in cash on Etihad and partner awards; American Airlines flights carry no fuel surcharge, only taxes.
- Partner awards are booked by phone and priced per segment.
- Etihad Guest miles expire after 18 months without activity; any earning transaction extends them.
Routing and stopover rules
- One-way awards on Etihad and partners; partner awards are priced per flight segment by distance.
- Stopovers are not offered on award tickets; open jaws can be booked as two one-ways.
- Partner award availability follows the partner's saver inventory; AA space visible on aa.com as a web special is usually not bookable through Etihad.

- Does Etihad Guest have an award chart?
- Only for partners. Etihad's own flights have been variably priced since 2018, but partner airlines such as American have fixed one-way charts by distance published on etihad.com.
- How many Etihad miles for an American Airlines flight?
- From 6,000 miles in economy and 20,000 in first for flights under 500 miles, rising to 23,000 and 40,000 between 1,501 and 2,000 miles, one way, plus taxes only.
- Can I still transfer Amex points to Etihad?
- No. Amex ended the partnership on June 30, 2026. Citi ThankYou and Capital One transfer at 1:1 and Marriott Bonvoy at 3:1.
