The Alaska Atmos Rewards program explained
Atmos Rewards is the loyalty program of Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines. Alaska renamed Mileage Plan to Atmos Rewards on August 20, 2025, and folded HawaiianMiles into the same program on October 1, 2025, after completing its purchase of Hawaiian in 2024. Alaska is a oneworld member and Hawaiian joined the alliance in April 2026, so points book American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Qantas and the rest of oneworld, plus non-alliance partners such as Starlux, Singapore Airlines and Fiji Airways.
Frequent flyers rate the program highly because it has kept distance-based earning on Alaska flights and partner award charts that offer strong value in premium cabins. Since the rebrand, points no longer expire, which removes the one reason members used to feel rushed.

How members earn Alaska Atmos Rewards miles
- Flying Alaska and Hawaiian: miles are earned per mile flown, with fare-class and status bonuses, which favours long flights on cheap fares.
- Alaska Airlines Visa cards from Bank of America, which also earn the annual Companion Fare.
- Transfers from Bilt Rewards at 1:1 and from Marriott Bonvoy at 3:1; none of Chase, Amex, Capital One or Citi transfer to Atmos Rewards.
- Flying oneworld and other partners such as Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Qantas, Singapore Airlines and Icelandair.

- Short-haul awards within the West Coast and to Hawaii on Alaska and Hawaiian.
What to watch out for
- Partner award pricing moved to distance-based bands in 2024, and some formerly cheap awards cost more than they did.
- Partner premium cabin availability is scarce, particularly on Cathay Pacific and JAL, and the partner booking fee rose to $20 in July 2026.
- From August 2026, Alaska's cheapest Saver fares earn no points, and the program is still rolling out changes tied to the Hawaiian merger, so check the current rules before relying on a detail.

Status is earned through status points from flying Alaska, Hawaiian and partners: 20,000 for Silver, 40,000 for Gold, 80,000 for Platinum and 135,000 for Titanium in 2026. The old MVP tier names were retired with the rebrand.

Keep your points if you live on the West Coast or in Hawaii and fly Alaska or Hawaiian, or if you have a partner premium cabin trip in mind. Atmos Rewards points are among the most valuable when used well and they never expire.
