The Etihad Guest program explained
Etihad Guest is the loyalty program of Etihad Airways, the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates based in Abu Dhabi. Etihad is not in an alliance but has a broad partner list that includes American Airlines, Air Canada, Air France-KLM, Virgin Australia, Korean Air and Etihad's own network to Europe, Asia and Australia.
US members can fund Etihad Guest from Capital One, Citi ThankYou Points, Bilt and Marriott Bonvoy; American Express dropped Etihad from Membership Rewards. The program moved its own flights to dynamic award pricing, so the old partner-chart sweet spots that made Etihad Guest famous are fewer than they once were, and many members now hold miles they earned during transfer bonuses without a clear redemption plan.

Status is earned through Tier Miles from flights on Etihad and partners: 25,000 for Silver, 50,000 for Gold and 125,000 for Platinum, with the invitation-level Emerald tier tied to spend. Thresholds are cut by a quarter until March 31, 2027, and Platinum and Emerald stop miles from expiring.
Should you sell your Etihad Guest miles?
Keep your miles if you have a specific Etihad premium-cabin redemption in sight or fly through Abu Dhabi regularly, and if you hold status that keeps miles alive.
Consider selling if your balance is approaching the 18-month expiry and you have no Etihad flight planned, if the partner awards you wanted are no longer priced as they were, or if the miles were earned during a transfer bonus with no plan attached.
