The Korean Air SKYPASS program explained
SKYPASS is the loyalty program of Korean Air, South Korea's flag carrier and a founding member of SkyTeam, based at Seoul Incheon. SKYPASS miles book Korean Air and SkyTeam partners including Delta, Air France, KLM and Vietnam Airlines. Korean Air took control of Asiana Airlines in December 2024 and the two airlines merge on December 17, 2026, with Asiana leaving Star Alliance the day before.
SKYPASS is unusual among major programs in two ways: miles are valid for ten years, and family members can pool miles toward a single award. It has no US credit card or hotel transfer partners, so balances are earned by flying and are hard to rebuild once spent.

Should you sell your Korean Air SKYPASS miles?
Keep your miles if you fly to Korea or through Seoul and want to experience Korean Air First or Prestige Class, which are among the better uses of any SkyTeam currency.
Consider selling if your travel to Asia has ended or your balance exceeds what you can use. The ten-year validity means there is no rush, but SKYPASS miles are in steady demand from buyers because they are so hard to earn.
