What Points Plug pays for miles and points
Every rate below is in cents per mile or point, and it is exactly what the quote form offers. We set each rate as a share of the program's typical published value, the same figure on its value page: 80% for the smallest balances, rising to 95% at 500,000 and up, and never above 100% of that value. A few programs are priced above or below these standard shares; the tables show every exact rate.
We are actively buying Alaska Atmos Rewards, so it gets our top rate: up to the full typical value.

How we set these rates
Each program's typical value is the average of five published valuations, from The Points Guy, Upgraded Points, Frequent Miler, One Mile at a Time and NerdWallet. We pay a fixed share of it, so a program the publishers value more gets a higher offer, and when we re-review a valuation the rate follows. No publisher values Virgin Australia Velocity points, so their typical value comes from Singapore KrisFlyer: Virgin Australia Velocity converts 1.55 points into 1 Singapore KrisFlyer mile, and we divide each published Singapore KrisFlyer valuation by 1.55, as its value page shows.
Larger balances earn a larger share because one transaction covers more miles. The share is capped at the typical value itself: we will not quote more for your miles than what they are typically worth when redeemed. Compare the rate for your balance with the redemption value of your miles before deciding whether to sell.
Rates FAQ
- How much does Points Plug pay per mile?
- Usually between 80% and 95% of the program's typical published value, depending on balance size, and never more than that value. A few programs are priced above or below that range. Across the airline programs we buy, that works out to 0.68¢ to 1.51¢ per mile. The table on this page lists the exact rate for every program and balance.
- Why is the offer below what my miles are worth?
- A valuation is what miles save you when you can book the right award on the right dates. A cash offer is certain money now, with no award search, no fees and no risk of the program devaluing. The gap between the two is what that certainty costs.
- Do these rates change?
- Yes. Rates are set from the same published valuations shown on our value pages, so when those valuations are reviewed, the rates move with them. The quote form always uses the rates on this page.
