How to claim missing Air France-KLM Flying Blue miles

Use the Flying Blue Claim missing Miles form within six months of the flight; the terms (article 1.4.6) say all claims for retroactive XP or Miles should be made within six months after the flight or transaction. KLM says Miles are normally added within 24 hours after the flight, so check your account first.

Flying Blue lets you use only one loyalty programme per booking, and once a booking is credited to Flying Blue, even with zero Miles, it cannot be withdrawn. Keep your boarding passes and passenger receipts, since the terms make that your responsibility.

What to have ready

  • Boarding passes and passenger receipts: terms article 2.9 says it is the member's responsibility to keep the documents that may be needed for retroactive credit.
  • Copies of anything you send, since documents submitted to the Customer Service Centre cannot be returned (terms article 1.4.6).
  • Your Flying Blue membership number, which should be given when booking, when the ticket is issued and at check-in (terms article 2.1).

Flights taken before you joined

  • Not confirmed. The Flying Blue terms define the enrolment date as the date the application is submitted, but neither the terms nor KLM's earning page say whether flights taken before that date can be claimed.
  • Any claim is still limited to six months after the flight (terms article 1.4.6).

Rules that decide a claim

  • Give your membership number when booking, when the ticket is issued and at check-in (terms article 2.1); Miles are credited whoever pays for the ticket.
  • Members of other loyalty programmes may use only one programme per booking. Once a booking is credited to Flying Blue, even with zero Miles or XP, it cannot be withdrawn at the member's request (terms article 2.10).
  • Reward tickets, travel industry reduced rates, and free or non-revenue tickets earn no Miles or XP (terms article 2.4).
  • You must actually travel: unused, forfeited, lost, out-of-date or refunded tickets earn nothing (terms article 2.7), and cancelled flights earn no Miles or XP (terms article 2.5).
  • Flying Blue Miles and XP cannot be transferred to or combined with another person's account, except through Flying Blue Family (terms article 1.4.7).

If Air France-KLM Flying Blue refuses a claim
