Why Chase Ultimate Rewards points are worth what they are
Chase Ultimate Rewards points are valued at 1.5 to 2.05 cents each in September 2026, with The Points Guy at 2.05 cents and Frequent Miler's conservative figure at 1.5 cents. The value comes from the transfer partners: Hyatt for hotels, and United, Aeroplan, Flying Blue, Virgin Atlantic, British Airways and Singapore KrisFlyer among airlines, all at 1:1.
The guaranteed floor has fallen. Until October 2025 a Sapphire Reserve holder could redeem every point at 1.5 cents through Chase Travel; the replacement Points Boost pays up to 2 cents on selected flights and hotels but as little as 1.15 cents on many bookings, and cash back is a flat cent. Points earned before the change by long-standing cardholders keep the old multiplier until October 2027.
The best use of a large balance is still a well-chosen transfer, but that takes a specific trip and available award space. For members who will not transfer, the comparison is between a cent of cash back from Chase and a cash quote for Chase points.
