Why Delta SkyMiles are worth what they are

Delta SkyMiles are valued at 1.1 to 1.2 cents each in September 2026, the lowest of the major US programs. Delta was the first big carrier to drop its award chart entirely, and its dynamic pricing usually keeps economy awards close to a cent a mile. AwardWallet's member-reported average of 1.37 cents is also the lowest of any US program, which suggests even enthusiasts struggle to do much better.

The exceptions are worth knowing. Delta runs frequent flash sales on domestic and Caribbean routes that push value toward two cents, and Delta One awards to Europe, when priced at the low end of the range, return four to five cents a mile against high cash fares.
