Dynamic own flights, chart for partners

Air Canada Aeroplan award chart and sweet spots

Aeroplan publishes a Flight Reward Chart with two halves. Air Canada and a set of "select partners" (United, Emirates, flydubai, Etihad and Air Canada Rouge among them) are priced dynamically, and the chart shows only a "starting at" and a median price for each distance band. Every other partner is priced from a fixed table by region pair, distance band and cabin, one way.

The fixed partner half is where the value is: it is one of the few printed charts left for Star Alliance flights, and Aeroplan adds no fuel surcharges on any partner, only a booking fee.

Read from the August 2026 edition of Aeroplan's Flight Reward Chart PDF; the chart's "Atlantic" zone is Europe, Africa and the Middle East and its "Pacific" zone is Asia and Oceania, and partner rows have no premium economy price. Air Canada and select partners start at the same figures (economy within North America from 6,000 points, North America to Europe business from 60,000) but the median price is far higher: 13,000 and 133,800 points respectively.

Sweet spots

Lufthansa, SWISS or Austrian business class to Europe

60,000 points + no surcharges

Any partner under 4,000 miles from the eastern US or Canada; the same seats cost 95,000 miles round trip plus hundreds in surcharges through Miles & More.

Stopovers for 5,000 points

A 45-day stop in Frankfurt, Istanbul or Singapore on a one-way partner award, which few other programs allow at any price.

Fees and surcharges

  • No fuel surcharges on any award, on Air Canada or any partner.
  • CAD $39 partner booking fee per ticket, waived on Air Canada-only itineraries.
  • Changes: $75 online or $100 by phone; cancellations: $150 online or $175 by phone, with points redeposited; free within 24 hours of booking and allowed up to two hours before departure. Fees are waived for the top elite tiers and some co-brand cards.
  • Stopovers cost 5,000 points each, one per direction, up to 45 days, on itineraries that do not begin or end in Canada or the United States.

Routing and stopover rules

  • One-way awards on all partners; itineraries are priced by total distance flown, so a detour adds points only when it crosses a band.
  • Mixed-partner itineraries are allowed and priced as one award; mixing Air Canada with a fixed-price partner uses the dynamic half of the chart for the Air Canada segment.
  • Open-jaws are allowed; a stopover of more than 24 hours costs 5,000 points and is not sold on itineraries touching Canada or the US.

Recent and upcoming changes

  • March 25, 2025: Air Canada and "select partner" flights moved to "starting at" and median pricing rather than a fixed chart.
  • April 30, 2026 and August 2026: revised chart editions issued; the fixed partner table above is from the August 2026 PDF.
  • February 2026: ITA Airways added as a Star Alliance partner; July 2026: Emirates and flydubai moved to the select-partner (dynamic) half.

Getting Air Canada Aeroplan points for these awards

Chase (1:1), Amex (1:1), Capital One (1:1), Bilt (1:1), Marriott (3:1) transfer into Air Canada Aeroplan, so a specific award can often be funded from bank points rather than a held balance. If your balance is bigger than the awards you will book, see what the points are worth or get a cash quote.
