How to buy Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles

Only as a top-up. If you already hold at least half the miles for a specific award flight or upgrade, KrisFlyer sells up to 50% of the miles still needed at US$0.04 a mile, or the local currency equivalent.

You apply with a form sent to KrisFlyer by email or fax, pay by credit card, and the bought miles must be redeemed straight away for that award. The payment is non-refundable, and no bonus on bought miles was shown when checked.

How to buy Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles

  1. Find the award flight or upgrade you want and check you hold at least 50% of the miles it needs.
  2. Fill in the KrisFlyer miles top-up request form (singaporeair.com/milestopup) with the award and your credit card holder details.
  3. Email or fax the completed form to KF_contact@singaporeair.com.sg.
  4. The bought miles are charged to your credit card and must be redeemed immediately for that award.

Limits

  • Available only when you already hold at least 50% of the miles for the award.
  • You can buy up to 50% of the remaining miles needed (terms, section I.19).
  • Only for a specific award flight or upgrade, redeemed straight away.

Rules to know before you buy

  • Payment must be by credit card.
  • The amount paid is non-refundable. If miles from a completely unused award ticket go back into your account, the bought miles are still not refunded.
  • Bought miles can't be held for later: they must be redeemed immediately.

Buying miles for someone else, and transfers

Gifting miles

  • KrisFlyer doesn't sell miles to give to another member, and its terms (section D.14) don't allow miles to move from one member's account to another.

Transferring between members

  • Member-to-member transfers aren't permitted. The one exception is a one-way transfer from a minor's account to the linked parent or guardian, up to 50,000 miles a calendar year.
  • Instead, you can redeem awards for up to five redemption nominees. Changing or deleting a nominee costs 3,000 miles or US$30 for KrisFlyer members and 1,500 miles or US$15 for Elite Silver, and is free for Elite Gold and PPS Club.

Extend expiring miles

Miles due to expire for the first time can be extended for 1,200 miles or US$12 per 10,000 miles or part of it: six months for KrisFlyer members, 12 months for Elite Silver and Elite Gold.
