How to claim missing Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles

Sign in to Miles&Smiles, open Miles transactions and use Claim Missing Miles for any flight within the last 12 months. Turkish Airlines says Miles from a flight may take up to two weeks after the flight to arrive, so wait that long before claiming.

The name and surname on your ticket must match the name and surname on your Miles&Smiles membership, and some Star Alliance partners set a different time limit or do not allow retroactive claims at all.

  1. Sign in with your Miles&Smiles membership details.
  2. Open your account tab and select Miles transactions, then the Claim Missing Miles section.
  3. Select the airline and fill in the flight date, departure and arrival points, flight number, travel class and ticket number.
  4. In the Miles&Smiles app, log in, open the menu, tap My Miles, then My Miles Transactions at the bottom of the page, and choose Claim Missing Miles under Mileage Transactions.
  5. The Miles are credited once the details are verified.

How long it takes: Not confirmed. Turkish Airlines says the Miles are credited after verification but gives no processing time.

Star Alliance and partner airline flights

What to have ready

  • Flight date, departure and arrival airports, flight number and travel class.
  • Your ticket number.
  • Your Miles&Smiles membership number, which is requested at booking and check-in (terms).
  • Documents sent in support of a late request are not returned (terms section 3.7), so send copies.

Flights taken before you joined

  • Yes. Turkish Airlines' October 2024 Miles&Smiles news item says you can claim Miles for flights in the last 12 months through My Miles Transactions > Claim Missing Miles on the website or app, even if you flew before becoming a Miles&Smiles member.
  • Terms section 3.7 allows a retroactive request for up to twelve months following the flight or service, but for some Star Alliance member airlines the limit may vary or retroactive processing may not be available at all.

Rules that decide a claim

  • The name and surname on your ticket must match the name and surname registered in your Miles&Smiles membership.
  • Journeys made on award tickets earn no Miles (terms section 5.1).
  • Turkish Airlines may exclude certain fares, payment types or passenger categories from the program on reasonable prior notice (terms).
  • Miles earned in Miles&Smiles cannot be transferred to or combined with any other frequent flyer program (terms section 4.2).
