How to earn Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles

Turkish Airlines flights earn Miles and Status Miles by route and booking class from the miles calculator; the fare-class table itself could not be read when we checked. Star Alliance and partner flights earn a percentage of distance by booking class, with minimum-mile floors on short sectors.

On United, for example, J, C and D earn 150% of distance, most economy fares 100%, and F, X and I nothing.

Which program should I select for Turkish Airlines flights?

Turkish miles are among the cheapest for Star Alliance business awards, so crediting to Miles&Smiles suits people who redeem Turkish or partner awards. The catch is expiry at the end of the third calendar year.

For a rare Turkish flight, credit to United or Aeroplan: their miles last (United's never expire, Aeroplan's survive 18 months of inactivity) and their distance-based partner charts usually pay 50% to 150% too.

Discount codes matter. Several Turkish economy classes earn only 25% to 50% in partner programs, so compare the partner chart against the Miles&Smiles calculator for your booking class.

Claiming miles after the flight

Claim window: 12 months from the flight.

  • Claim under Miles transactions in the account or app once two weeks have passed; Turkish says miles can take that long to post.
  • The name on the ticket must match the membership. Star Alliance partner flights are claimable within 12 months, sometimes less depending on the partner.
  • Whether flights before joining count is not stated.

Cards and banks

Co-brand and bank partners including American Express, Capital One, Citi, HSBC, Revolut and Klarna, from the credit cards page.

Hotels

Hilton Honors, IHG, Marriott Bonvoy, Wyndham, Choice and Rixos stays earn or convert into miles.

Cars, cruises and tours

Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz, National and Sixt rentals, MSC and Royal Caribbean cruises, and Booking.com, Trip.com and GetYourGuide bookings, listed on the partners page.

Shopping and fuel

Bicester Collection, Bilt Rewards Alliance, HeyMax and En Yakıt fuel in Türkiye. Turkish lists no Uber, Lyft or delivery partner.

Buy miles

US$30 per 1,000 miles including VAT, 1,000 minimum and 250,000 a year. Bought miles are not Status Miles and are non-refundable.

Extend miles

Expiring miles can be extended three more years for US$20 per 1,000.

Bank point transfers

Booking awards with the miles

Yes, at the end of the third full calendar year after they were credited. They can be extended three years for US$20 per 1,000 miles.
Can I credit a United or Lufthansa flight to Turkish?
Yes, both are Star Alliance partners. United J, C and D earn 150% of distance and most economy 100%; Lufthansa A and F earn 200% and business 150%, while the deepest discount codes earn nothing.
How long do Turkish flights take to post?
Up to two weeks. Turkish asks members to wait that long before filing a missing miles claim, which then stays open for 12 months.
