Velocity itself sets a rate against Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, converting 1.55 Velocity Points into 1 KrisFlyer mile, and back at the same rate, with a 5,000-point minimum. Points Plug divides each published KrisFlyer valuation by 1.55 to value a Velocity point, so the figures on this page move whenever those valuations do.

What a point actually returns depends on the Reward Seat. Reward Seats start at 5,900 points one way on short Virgin Australia domestic flights, and business class on United between the US West Coast and Australia costs 102,000 points one way, against 113,000 on Air Canada or ANA and 119,500 on Singapore Airlines or Qatar Airways for the same distance band. Taxes and carrier charges are extra; Singapore Airlines adds carrier charges of US$120 to US$200 in business class. Any Seat bookings, priced from the cash fare, need more points overall.

For a holder outside Australia the limits are access and expiry. Velocity's terms restrict membership to residents of Australia, New Zealand and nearby Pacific countries; of the US programs checked, only Marriott Bonvoy lists Velocity as a transfer partner (3:1, with 5,000 bonus points per 60,000 moved), while Capital One and Citi ThankYou do not; and points lapse 24 months after the last earning or redemption.
