Award chart

British Airways Club award chart and sweet spots

The British Airways Club prices Reward Flights by the distance of each flight, in zones, with peak and off-peak dates and a one-way price that is half the return. British Airways no longer publishes the zone table; its site quotes "from" prices (Europe from 10,000 Avios plus £2.50 each way, long-haul from 55,000 Avios plus £150 return, Club World from 154,000 Avios plus £350 return) and prices the rest through a calculator. Partner flights on American, Alaska, Qatar, Japan Airlines and the other oneworld carriers use the same distance zones at slightly different rates.

The zone table below is the off-peak partner table compiled by Award Travel Finder in June 2026, after the December 2025 increase. Peak dates and British Airways' own flights cost more, and the second-source figures for zone 1 differ, so treat the first two zones as approximate.

Fees and surcharges

  • No booking fee online; £15 or $25 to book by phone.
  • Changes and cancellations cost £35 or $55 per person, and a cancellation more than 24 hours before departure refunds the Avios and taxes minus that fee. Gold members are exempt from service charges.
  • British Airways long-haul flights carry carrier-imposed charges, from about £150 return in economy to £350 or more in Club World; Reward Flight Saver on short-haul caps the cash at £2.50 each way. Partner flights on American, Alaska and Qatar carry only taxes, while Iberia and Japan Airlines add their own surcharges.
  • British Airways guarantees at least eight economy, two premium economy and four business reward seats on every BA flight from Heathrow and Gatwick.

Routing and stopover rules

  • Every flight is priced separately by its own distance zone, and one-way is 50 percent of the return.
  • Peak and off-peak dates and different cabins can be mixed within one booking.
  • A domestic UK feeder flight connecting to long-haul adds no separate charge; connecting to short-haul does.

Recent and upcoming changes

  • December 15, 2025: prices rose about 10 percent across British Airways flights and 10 to 14 percent on Cathay Pacific and Japan Airlines partner awards; zone 1 economy went from 6,000 to 6,500 and zone 1 business from 12,500 to 14,000.
  • April 1, 2025: the Executive Club became The British Airways Club, with tier status earned on spend rather than flights.

Getting British Airways Club Avios for these awards

Chase (1:1), Amex (1:1), Capital One (1:1), Citi (1:1), Bilt (1:1), Wells Fargo (1:1), Marriott (3:1) transfer into British Airways Club, so a specific award can often be funded from bank points rather than a held balance. If your balance is bigger than the awards you will book, see what the Avios are worth or get a cash quote.

British Airways Club award FAQ

How are British Airways Avios prices calculated?
By the distance of each flight in zones, with a peak and off-peak price for each cabin and one-way at half the return. Short flights are cheap and long ones expensive, which is why Avios work best for short-haul partner flights and worst for long-haul on British Airways itself.
How many Avios for a flight from New York to London?
About 13,000 Avios one way in economy off-peak on the partner table for a 3,001 to 4,000 mile flight, and 29,500 in business, plus taxes and British Airways' carrier charges. British Airways' own Club World return is 176,000 Avios plus £399 off-peak after December 2025.
Can Avios be moved between British Airways, Iberia, Qatar and Aer Lingus?
Yes, at 1:1 between The British Airways Club, Iberia Club, Aer Lingus AerClub, Qatar Privilege Club and Finnair Plus, which lets members use whichever program prices a flight lowest.
