Delta SkyMiles award chart and sweet spots

Delta removed its award charts in 2015 and prices every award from real-time availability, subject to capacity controls. Its site shows only a flexible award calendar and periodic "SkyMiles Deals". Partner awards on SkyTeam and other carriers are priced the same way, and Delta One and partner business class are usually far above what Virgin Atlantic or Flying Blue charge for the same seat.

The figures below are the lowest prices AwardFares observed in 2026; the only way to price a specific flight is to search it on delta.com.

Free changes and cancellations

Every non-Basic award can be cancelled for a full redeposit, so speculative bookings cost nothing.

Fees and surcharges

  • No change or redeposit fees on award tickets for members in the US and Canada, excluding Delta Basic awards; same-day changes cost $75, waived for Gold Medallion and above.
  • Delta's rules say some partner airlines impose a surcharge on award redemptions; Delta's own flights carry only taxes.
  • Awards booked within 72 hours of departure were non-refundable under Delta's older rules; the current program rules state no fees for US and Canada members.

Routing and stopover rules

  • One-way awards are available on Delta and partners; open-jaw itineraries are priced as two one-ways.
  • Different cabins can be booked on the outbound and return.
  • Delta has no blackout dates on its own flights; partners may.

Recent and upcoming changes

  • July 8, 2026: Delta Basic fares extended to premium cabins, so the cheapest Delta One awards may be non-changeable.
  • No award chart or pricing announcement in 2026; Delta adjusts prices continuously.

Usually 170,000 miles or more one way when booked with SkyMiles. The same seat booked through Virgin Atlantic Flying Club is 47,500 points off-peak from the UK to the US East Coast plus about $1,028 in surcharges, which is why points experts transfer to Virgin instead.
Can I cancel a Delta award ticket?
Yes, free of charge for US and Canada members, with the miles redeposited, unless the award is a Delta Basic fare.
