  • Free to join as a Green member. Anyone aged 2 or over, with parental consent under 18.
  • No welcome bonus stated.
  • Miles post within four to six weeks of an eligible flight.

Which program should I select for Cathay Pacific flights?

Asia Miles never expire as long as you keep earning, and Cathay status accrues only here, so regular Cathay flyers should credit to Cathay.

Americans flying Cathay occasionally usually do better in Alaska or AAdvantage: both credit by distance and fare class, both book Cathay awards, and the balances are easier to top up with US cards.

British Airways pays 25% to 150% of distance on Cathay and is worth it only for Avios collectors. Check the fare class first, since the lowest codes earn 25% everywhere.

Claiming miles after the flight

Claim window: 6 months from the flight.

  • File the missing mileage request form in the account after seven days; credit takes six to eight weeks.
  • New members can claim only flights within 30 days before enrolment.
  • A name mismatch, no membership number on the booking and an ineligible fare class are the usual reasons for non-credit.

Ways to earn miles without flying

Uber Taxi

In Hong Kong, Uber Taxi rides earn 20 Asia Miles each, 40 for airport trips, plus 500 bonus miles for first-time Uber app users, since October 2025, per Cathay's Uber Taxi page.

Dining

HK$4 = 1 mile at partner restaurants, up to HK$4 = 3 with a linked card through DiningCity and OpenRice, plus 15 miles per reservation. TakeMe in Japan pays 1 mile per JPY100.

Cathay credit cards

The Cathay World Elite Mastercard in the US earns 3 miles per dollar on Cathay, 2 on dining and 1 elsewhere; Standard Chartered issues the Hong Kong card.

Cathay Shop, hotels and more

Cathay Shop purchases, hotel and car bookings and wellness and insurance partners earn miles, from the Asia Miles page.

Top-up miles

Asia Miles can be bought to top up a balance; the price shows after login.

Bank point transfers
