How to earn Emirates Skywards miles

Emirates and flydubai flights earn Skywards Miles and Tier Miles on every fare type in every cabin, with the amount set by route, fare type and class; the miles calculator gives the figure. Silver earns 30% more, Gold 75% and Platinum 100%.

Partner flights earn by distance and class from each partner page: Qantas First 150%, Air Canada business 150%, discount economy 25% to 70%.

How to join Emirates Skywards

Enrol at emirates.com. What the program requires and offers:

  • Free. Open to anyone aged 2 or over; ages 2 to 17 join Skysurfers through a parent or guardian.
  • Register with your name and date of birth exactly as on your passport.
  • No welcome bonus for joining.

Which program should I select for Emirates flights?

Emirates flyers have few alternatives: Qantas, Korean Air, JAL and United accept Emirates flights, and Qantas's table is route-based rather than a percentage of distance.

Credit to Skywards when you want tier status, which accrues only here, or plan to redeem Emirates awards. Skywards Miles expire three years after they are earned, except for Platinum members.

Qantas suits Australians: the partner table pays points on Emirates but no status credits on Dubai routes, so status seekers stay with Skywards.

Claiming miles after the flight

Claim window: 6 months from the flight.

  • Claim online with the booking reference and ticket number 48 hours after an Emirates or flydubai flight; partner flight claims go through live chat with the ticket number and class.
  • New members can claim Emirates, flydubai and Qantas flights up to two months before registering, within six months of registration.
  • Hotel, car and retail partner claims need invoices within six months and take six to eight weeks.

1 Mile per AED 3 spent at partners in the UAE, or AED 5 at grocery and pharmacy, with up to five linked cards, from the Skywards Everyday page.

Cards and banks

Co-brand cards from HSBC, Emirates NBD, Emirates Islamic, ADIB, DIB, ICICI and Barclays, from the partners page.

Hotels and cars

Accor, Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, Marriott, Jumeirah, Rotana and Booking.com stays; Avis and Budget up to 6 miles per US dollar, Hertz 5, Europcar and Sixt up to 1,200 per rental.

Dubai shopping and tours

Dubai Duty Free, Dubai Mall, the Skywards Miles Mall, the Emirates Store, Bicester Village and GetYourGuide tours.

Rideshare

Emirates signed a memorandum with Uber in June 2025 to explore earning on rides in the UAE, but nothing is live yet, and the earlier Careem partnership is no longer on the partners page.

Buy, transfer or multiply

US$30 per 1,000 Miles (2,000 minimum, up to 100,000 or 200,000 a year by tier), transfers US$15 per 1,000, Multiply Miles after a flight at US$20 per 1,000, and extending expiring miles US$20 per 1,000, from the do more page.

Bank point transfers

Amex (5:4), Capital One (4:3), Citi (1:0.8), Bilt (1:1), Marriott (3:1) transfer into Emirates Skywards. See the transfer partner matrix and how transfers work.

Earning Emirates Skywards miles: FAQ

Can I claim Skywards Miles for a flight before I joined?
Yes, for Emirates, flydubai and Qantas flights up to two months before registering, if you claim within six months of registering.
Where else can I credit an Emirates flight?
Qantas Frequent Flyer (with a QF or EK flight number), Korean Air SKYPASS on select classes, JAL Mileage Bank and United MileagePlus, which has an Emirates earning page on united.com.
How much does it cost to buy Skywards Miles?
US$30 per 1,000, minimum 2,000, up to 100,000 a year for Blue and Silver and 200,000 for Gold and Platinum.
Does Emirates pay miles on Uber or Careem rides?
Not yet. Emirates and Uber announced a partnership in June 2025 that is still to launch, and Careem no longer appears on the Skywards partner list.
