How to earn Korean Air SKYPASS miles

Korean Air flights earn by flight segment, cabin and booking class from an accrual table that loads only with JavaScript on koreanair.com. SkyTeam partner flights follow the same logic: Delta 70% to 135% of distance, up to 200% in premium international cabins; Air France 20% to 165%. Award tickets and charter flights earn nothing.

  • Free. Anyone can sign up regardless of age or nationality, with a guardian's consent under 14.
  • Join on the website or app, through a mobile wallet, or with an affiliated credit card.
  • No welcome bonus stated.

Which program should I select for Korean Air flights?

Delta is the practical home for Korean Air flights for most non-Koreans: up to 300% of distance in premium cabins, no expiry, and SkyMiles book Korean Air awards.

Credit to SKYPASS for Korean Air status or if you plan to redeem its fixed award chart, and use the Korean co-brand cards to keep the balance growing.

Korean Air's own accrual table could not be read; check the booking class on koreanair.com before choosing, since award, charter and non-accrual fares earn nothing.

Claiming miles after the flight

Claim window: 365 days; 6 months on AF, KLM, Garuda.

  • Retro-claim on the website or app, or at a service centre with the e-ticket and boarding pass, from 7 days after the flight (14 for Garuda).
  • Flights boarded more than 30 days before signing up cannot be claimed.
  • Partner claims: Air France, KLM and Garuda within 6 months, other partners 365 days.

Ways to earn miles without flying

Korean co-brand cards

Hyundai, Samsung, Shinhan, KB, Lotte, Hana, Woori, NH, BC and Citi cards in Korea mostly earn 1 mile per KRW 1,000, and Amex Korea converts 1.5 Membership Rewards points per mile, from the credit card page.

Hotels and booking sites

500 miles per stay at partner hotels such as Grand Hyatt Incheon and Lotte, 3 miles per US dollar on Trip.com and 2 on Booking.com, posting within 8 weeks, from the hotel page.

Booking awards with the miles

Booking window: Not confirmed; international awards must be ticketed before reaching the airport. Change fee: KRW 30,000 reissue (C$30 from Canada). Cancellation: Free 91 or more days before departure; 3,000 miles at 90 days or less; 10,000 miles after the ticket expires. The full rules are on the award fees table and the availability guide.

How long do I have to claim missing Korean Air miles?
365 days from boarding for Korean Air and most partners, six months for Air France, KLM and Garuda, and nothing for flights more than 30 days before you joined.
Can I credit Korean Air flights to Delta?
Yes, at 25% to 300% of distance by fare class. Delta's rates for Korean Air change after 15 June 2026.
Which partner flights earn SKYPASS miles?
SkyTeam carriers including Delta, Air France, KLM, Virgin Atlantic and Vietnam Airlines, plus American (Incheon to Dallas only), China Southern, Emirates, GOL and JAL on Korea to Japan routes. Alaska and Hawaiian flights stopped earning on 1 January 2026.
