How to earn Lufthansa Miles & More
Lufthansa Group flights earn miles equal to the ticket price times a factor: 4 for base members and 6 for Frequent Traveller, Senator and HON Circle on Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian, Air Canada and United, with factor 5 on Eurowings. The airfare includes carrier surcharges but not seats or bags.
Status is earned separately in Points, per segment by cabin: 20 for a continental economy flight, 40 in business, and 60 to 400 intercontinental.
Other partner airlines earn booking class times distance flown on intercontinental flights and flat rates by cabin within Europe.

Where else Lufthansa flights can be credited
A and F earn 200% of distance, C, D and J 150%, Z 135%, B and Y 125%, most economy 100%, Q, S, W and V 50%, T 25%. O, I, R, X, K, L and P earn nothing.
By distance and fare class as a Star Alliance partner; United's chart could not be read. United miles never expire, unlike Miles & More miles.

Lufthansa is in Singapore's accrual chart; Lufthansa Group Economy Light fares within Europe earn nothing there.
Which program should I select for Lufthansa flights?
Miles & More pays 4 miles per euro of fare, more than any US program, so an expensive Lufthansa ticket earns most here. A €3,000 business fare earns 12,000 miles against about 5,300 in Turkish at 150% of 3,550 miles.
Cheap long flights go the other way. A €400 Frankfurt to New York economy ticket earns 1,600 Miles & More miles but about 3,850 Turkish miles in a 100% class, and United or Aeroplan pay by distance too.
Miles & More miles expire after 36 months unless you hold status or a co-brand card, so occasional flyers should credit to United or Aeroplan, whose miles last. Lufthansa's K, L and P codes earn nothing in Turkish.
Claiming miles after the flight
Claim window: 6 months from the flight.
- File online or scan the boarding pass in the app, 7 days after the flight.
- The retroactive page says flights count even if you were not a member at the time, while the terms say miles accrue only after membership begins; expect the ticket name to have to match the account.
- Partner flights need the ticket number and boarding pass.

Credit cards
Miles & More co-brand cards in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and elsewhere earn on every transaction and stop miles expiring, from the credit cards page.
Green Fares and CO2 packages
Lufthansa Group Green Fares earn up to 20% more miles and Points, and CO2 compensation packages up to 80% more Points.
Shopping, hotels and cars
Hotel and car partners, the Worldshop and newspaper subscriptions all earn miles, listed on the all offers page.
Lufthansa Express Rail
Rail feeder tickets earn ticket price times 4, the same as a flight.
Uber
In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Uber rides earn 1 mile per euro or franc and 2 to or from airports with a Miles & More number in the Uber account, per Uber's 2021 announcement; Miles & More's own page timed out, so confirm it is still live.
Marriott Bonvoy transfers
Marriott points convert into Miles & More miles through the Marriott partner page.
Booking awards with the miles
Booking window: 361 days; tickets can be issued up to 180 minutes before departure. Change fee: €50 per person per rebooking on static awards. - Do Miles & More miles expire?
- Yes, 36 months after they are credited, unless you hold status or a qualifying co-brand card, which keeps them alive.
- How are Lufthansa miles calculated now?
- Ticket price including carrier surcharges times 4 for base members, or times 6 with status. A €500 fare earns 2,000 miles. Status Points are separate and depend on the cabin and route length.
- Where else can I credit a Lufthansa flight?
- To any Star Alliance program. Turkish pays 100% to 200% of distance on most fares, and United and Aeroplan use their own fare-class charts. Only one number can be on the booking.
- Can I claim miles for a flight I took before joining?
- Miles & More's retroactive page says yes, within six months of the flight, though its terms say miles accrue only after membership begins. File the claim and expect the airline to check the ticket name.
