How to earn Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles

Singapore Airlines flights earn distance times a booking-class percentage: Suites and First 200%, business 150% or 125%, premium economy and economy 50% to 100%, from the accrual chart. Scoot fares earn 10% to 25%.

Star Alliance and partner flights earn from the same chart by carrier and class. Lufthansa Group Economy Light fares in Europe earn nothing.

How to join Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer

Enrol at singaporeair.com. What the program requires and offers:

  • Free. Anyone aged 2 or over can join, with parental consent for minors; companies cannot join.
  • No welcome bonus for joining.
  • Miles post two to four weeks after a Singapore Airlines flight and six to eight weeks after a partner flight.

Which program should I select for Singapore Airlines flights?

KrisFlyer prices Singapore Airlines premium cabins well and its Saver, Advantage and Access awards are booked from a KrisFlyer account, so frequent Singapore Airlines flyers should credit here despite the expiry rule.

Occasional flyers on discount economy do better in United or Aeroplan, whose miles last longer and whose partner charts pay similar percentages, unless the fare class earns 50% or less there.

KrisFlyer miles expire after 45 months of inactivity in the FAQ (three years in older terms), so a one-off balance from a single flight is at risk. A bank transfer or shopping purchase keeps it alive.

Claiming miles after the flight

Claim window: 6 months from the flight.

  • Log in and use the online form under Make a claim once the posting period has passed.
  • New members can claim flights taken up to 30 days before enrolment. The terms page mentioned six months for Singapore Airlines flights, but treat 30 days as the rule.
  • Partner flights need the ticket number and boarding pass and take six to eight weeks.

Grab

GrabRewards points convert into KrisFlyer miles in the Grab app, from 650 points for 50 miles up to 26,000 for 2,000 miles, in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam and Myanmar, per the ground transport partners page.

Kris+ app

Up to 6 KrisPay miles per Singapore dollar at Kris+ merchants in Singapore, converting into KrisFlyer miles.

Fuel and retail

Esso Smiles convert 100 to 100 miles, Shell GO+ 150 to 100, Changi Rewards 1,440 to 200 and Heathrow Rewards 1:1.

KrisShop and Pelago

Up to 4 miles per Singapore dollar at KrisShop and 3 per dollar on Pelago tours and activities.

Ground partners

More than 1,300 non-airline partners: co-brand cards, banks, hotels and serviced residences, retail, from the earn on the ground page.

Miles top-up

US$0.04 per mile, only when you already hold at least half the miles for a specific award, and only to complete that redemption.

Extend miles

1,200 miles or US$12 per 10,000 miles extends expiring miles.

Bank point transfers

Booking window: Not stated for awards; general bookings open 355 days out. Change fee: Date change Saver US$25, Advantage and Access free; route or cabin US$25; partner change US$50. Do KrisFlyer miles expire?
The FAQ says the account stays active 45 months from the end of the month of the last earning transaction; older terms still say three years. Extension costs 1,200 miles or US$12 per 10,000 miles.
Can I claim miles for a flight before I joined KrisFlyer?
Only for flights up to 30 days before enrolment, within six months of the flight.
Which partner flights earn KrisFlyer miles?
All 25 Star Alliance airlines (Asiana until 16 December 2026), Juneyao Air, plus Garuda, JetBlue, Malaysia Airlines, Olympic, SAS, Virgin Australia and Scoot, by the accrual chart.
Can I buy KrisFlyer miles?
Only as a top-up: US$0.04 per mile when you already hold at least 50% of the miles for a specific award, redeemed immediately.
