Why ANA Mileage Club miles are worth what they are
ANA Mileage Club miles are valued at 1.4 cents each by The Points Guy, Upgraded Points and One Mile at a Time in September 2026, a rare case of all three publishers agreeing. That puts ANA a little above JAL Mileage Bank, which Upgraded Points and One Mile at a Time both value at 1.3 cents.
The value is in ANA's own premium cabins and in Star Alliance partner awards, both priced from fixed zone charts. Business class between Japan and North America costs 100,000 miles round trip in Low season and 105,000 in Regular, but the June 24, 2025 revision lifted High season to 165,000, and ANA adds fuel surcharges to award tickets: ¥55,000 per sector on those routes for tickets issued in September and October 2026. Partner awards have no seasons, so business class between North America and Europe is 100,000 miles round trip, or 50,000 one way now that ANA sells one-way awards. Miles are valid until the end of the 36th month after the month they are earned, and new activity does not extend them. The exceptions are Diamond members, while they hold the status, and Million Milers, who have flown 1,000,000 lifetime miles on ANA Group flights. From the US, American Express Membership Rewards converts at 1:1 from US-issued cards according to ANA, and Marriott Bonvoy at 3:1, so a member can transfer for a specific trip rather than hold a balance.
