How to earn ANA Mileage Club miles

ANA flights earn sector mileage times a booking-class rate: first F and A 150%; business J 150%, C, D and Z 125%, P 70%; premium economy G and E 100%, N 70%; economy Y, B and M 100%, U, H and Q 70%, V, W, S and T 50%, L and K 30%. O, I, R and X earn nothing, and neither do award tickets. Tokyo to New York is 6,739 sector miles.

Partner flights earn ticketed point mileage times a rate set by each partner and fare type. Premium Points for status accrue only on eligible fares on ANA Group, Star Alliance or Star Alliance connecting partner (Juneyao Airlines) flights credited to Mileage Club, and status adds flight bonus miles of up to 55% (Bronze), 105% (Platinum) and 130% (Diamond).

How to join ANA Mileage Club

Enrol at ana.co.jp. What the program requires and offers:

  • Membership starts once an applicant agrees to the terms, applies and passes ANA's screening. The terms mention no joining or annual fee.
  • One account per person; ANA may merge duplicate accounts.
  • No joining bonus is shown on ANA's US Mileage Club page. Miles from ANA international flights post two to three days after departure.
  • Revised terms change how children and infants earn miles on flights from May 19, 2026.

Where else ANA flights can be credited

  • Virgin Atlantic Flying Club

    ANA-operated flights earn 300% of miles flown in F and A, 200% in J, C, D and Z, 150% in P and G, 100% in E, Y, B and M, 70% in N, H, U and Q, 50% in V, W, S and T and 30% in L and K, plus 10 to 100 Tier Points per flight. Only ANA-operated flights earn.

  • United MileagePlus

    United publishes a page for earning MileagePlus miles on ANA flights, but its rate table loads only in a browser and could not be read here; check it before choosing.

Which program should I select for ANA flights?

ANA business or first: credit to Virgin Atlantic. Tokyo to New York (6,739 miles) in C earns about 8,400 ANA miles at 125% but about 13,500 Virgin Points at 200%, and first class earns 300% with Virgin against 150% with ANA.

Discount economy: ANA and Virgin both pay 30% in L and K and 50% in V, W, S and T, so credit to the program whose currency you will use. ANA miles expire 36 months after the month earned regardless of activity.

Chasing ANA status: credit to ANA Mileage Club. Premium Points accrue only on flights credited there, and Bronze needs 15,000 of its 30,000 points from ANA Group flights.

Claiming miles after the flight

Claim window: 3 days to 6 months after the flight (stated for partner airlines).

  • Log in at ana.co.jp, open My Menu and choose "Retroactive Registration". ANA's page for its own flights gives the steps but no deadline.
  • Keep the e-ticket itinerary receipt and the original boarding pass; ANA also lists a retroactive registration application form.
  • Partner flights can be claimed from 3 days to 6 months after departure. Asiana claims close on October 31, 2026.

Ways to earn miles without flying

American Express Membership Rewards (US)

ANA says points from US-issued cards convert at 1:1 in units of 1,000, post in 2 to 4 business days, cannot be reversed and are limited to one transfer a day; the names on both accounts must match, and the miles must post before an award can be booked. See the transfer partners matrix.

Marriott Bonvoy

Marriott lists ANA Mileage Club at 3:1, with transfers of 3,000 to 240,000 points a day. Its page adds 5,000 bonus miles per 60,000 points for most airline partners; check the ANA entry before a large transfer.

IHG One Rewards (launching after October 2026)

Announced on April 22, 2026: IHG points on international ANA flights on top of ANA miles, IHG status for ANA status members, and a two-way exchange between IHG points and ANA miles. Ratios have not been published.

ANA Card and ANA Pay (Japan)

The Japan-issued Super Flyers cards pay enrolment, renewal and spending bonus miles, and holders of Japan-issued ANA cards can count ANA Card and ANA Pay spending toward premium status alongside flights.

Life Solution services

Miles from ANA's non-flight "Life Solution Services" go into the standard account group and last 36 months, while campaign miles sit in groups with shorter, campaign-specific validity and narrower uses.

Booking awards with the miles

Booking window: 355 days before departure, from 9:00 a.m. Japan time. Change fee: Free: ANA flights only to another flight on the same segment and date; partner awards date and flight changes up to 96 hours out. Cancellation: 3,000 miles or 3,000 yen per person.   • Awards open at 9:00 a.m. Japan time 355 days before departure. For Japan domestic awards the 9:00 a.m. opening applies to flights from May 19, 2026; earlier flights opened at 9:30 a.m.
  • ANA says its international awards have no blackout dates. You can waitlist one flight on one one-way sector until 14 days before the first flight, though ANA says waitlists "may not be accepted" depending on seat availability.
  • Since May 19, 2026 premium members and Super Flyers Card holders get priority reservations on Japan domestic awards.

Can I transfer American Express points to ANA?
ANA says US-issued Membership Rewards points convert at 1:1 in 1,000-point units and take 2 to 4 business days. Transfers cannot be reversed, only one is allowed per day, and the names on both accounts must match.
Do ANA award tickets earn miles?
No. ANA lists award tickets among the tickets that earn no miles, and its award terms say mileage is not accrued on them.
Which ANA fare classes earn the most miles?
First F and A and business J earn 150% of sector mileage, and C, D and Z 125%. The cheapest economy classes L and K earn 30%, and O, I, R and X earn nothing.
Should I credit ANA business class to Virgin Atlantic instead?
For miles, usually yes: Virgin pays 200% of distance in J, C, D and Z and 300% in F and A, against ANA's 125% to 150%. Only ANA-operated flights earn with Virgin, and ANA Premium Points for status accrue only when the flight is credited to Mileage Club.
