What it takes to fly one way from the US to Europe with miles, in each cabin, from every program's own award chart, using New York to London and Los Angeles to London as the examples.
Region-based charts, such as Turkish's, Miles & More's and Korean Air's, charge the same for London, Paris or Frankfurt. Distance-based charts depend on the miles flown, so a connection can move a trip into a higher band. Prices are before taxes and carrier charges, which are listed after the tables with the programs that price by date.

What you pay on top of the miles
British Airways Club
Every British Airways Reward Flight costs Avios plus a fixed cash amount covering taxes, fees and carrier charges.
American Airlines AAdvantage
American's FAQ names British Airways and Iberia as partners that add charges to awards on their flights, depending on the cities and cabin; the charge is refunded if the award is cancelled.
Air Canada Aeroplan
Rewards on any airline other than Air Canada carry a C$39 partner booking fee per ticket.

Lufthansa Miles & More
Every award adds taxes, fees and partner airline surcharges, paid by card. Rebooking a chart-priced award costs EUR 50 per person.
Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer
Star Alliance awards add taxes, surcharges and fees, which the chart says start from US$40 on a round trip.

JAL Mileage Bank
Partner awards add fuel surcharges and taxes: government taxes and fees start from US$13.40, and taxes plus carrier-imposed fees from US$37.50 per person, per award.

Qantas Frequent Flyer
Taxes, fees and carrier charges are paid in cash on top of the points and quoted at booking.
Delta SkyMiles
International awards can carry up to $600 in foreign government taxes and carrier-imposed fees, and some partner airlines add a surcharge of their own.

Korean Air SKYPASS
Each SkyTeam award adds taxes and charges of at least USD 5.60.
Emirates Skywards
Taxes, fuel surcharge and other charges on United reward flights are paid separately.
Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles
Award tickets carry airport taxes and statutory charges, and changes or refunds cost a transaction fee. The award terms mention no fuel surcharge.

Programs that price by date
These programs publish no fixed price for this trip: the miles needed move with the date and the cash fare, so check the program's own search before moving points.
United MileagePlus
United publishes no award chart. Its MileagePlus investor presentation describes award prices that United sets itself, higher on peak days and lower off-peak, so the miles to Europe show only in its search.

Delta SkyMiles
Delta prints no award chart: prices show by date in its award calendar, and award seats are capacity-controlled.

American Airlines AAdvantage
Awards on American's own flights are priced by date, from as low as 7,500 miles one way on the cheapest routes. Its chart of starting prices from North America loads only in a browser.

Air France-KLM Flying Blue
Flying Blue prints no award chart: Miles buy any available seat on Air France and KLM, one way or return, in Economy, Premium or Business, and starting prices show only in its Miles price estimator.

Virgin Atlantic Flying Club
Virgin Atlantic's own reward seats have no chart: the points move with demand, and Saver seats start from 6,000 points one way in economy from London to New York, plus taxes, fees and carrier charges.
Delta's nonstops between the UK and the US have a fixed table, which Virgin Atlantic prints for the UK-to-US direction: off-peak to the East Coast from 10,000 points in economy and 47,500 in Delta One, with $322.80 and $1,027.80 in cash on top.
JetBlue TrueBlue
JetBlue has no award chart: points for its own flights follow the fare at booking, and partner flights must be paid entirely in points.
Under Blue Sky, TrueBlue points book eligible United flights, and JetBlue names Rome and Barcelona among the destinations.
Charts that only show in the booking tool
These programs do publish prices, but only inside a calculator or booking page we can't quote, so they are left out of the tables rather than filled from other websites.
American Airlines AAdvantage
AAdvantage prices awards on partners such as British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus and Finnair from a one-way chart by region. Europe is one region, with Main Cabin off-peak dates of 10 January to 14 March and 1 November to 14 December, but the chart's mile values load only in a browser.

Alaska Atmos Rewards
Atmos Rewards points book oneworld airlines such as British Airways, Finnair and Iberia, and partners such as Aer Lingus, Condor and Icelandair, but Alaska's award charts page loads only in a browser.
British Airways Club
British Airways prices Reward Flights by date (peak or off-peak), destination and cabin, and prints no table. Its US page advertises London from 55,000 Avios plus $300, and Club World from 176,000 Avios plus $998, without saying whether that is one way or return.
Cathay Pacific Asia Miles
Asia Miles prices awards on Cathay Pacific and partner airlines by the distance zone of each direction, but the award charts its terms point to load only in a browser.

Qatar Airways Privilege Club
Privilege Club prices partner awards by the total flight distance of the itinerary, but its terms print no table, and its calculator shows the Avios only after a search.
Etihad Guest
Etihad Guest prints no chart or starting prices on its Fly with miles page: Promo seats come at fixed, reduced rates, and the miles for other seats show in its Miles Calculator.

- Aeroplan and JAL's partner chart price by the total distance flown, so a connection can move a trip into a higher band. Virgin Atlantic prices each flight of a partner trip separately, and Velocity does the same when you take a break between flights. Region-based charts, such as Turkish's, Miles & More's, KrisFlyer's, ANA's and Korean Air's, price by region rather than distance.
- Can you fly Singapore Airlines from the US to Europe with KrisFlyer miles?
- Yes, on its nonstop flights from the US East Coast. KrisFlyer's own chart prices them at 27,500 miles in economy, 57,000 in premium economy, 89,000 in business and 106,500 in first class one way as Saver awards (Advantage awards: 47,000, 105,000 and 172,000, with no premium economy). The chart prints no fixed price from the West Coast.
- Does British Airways add carrier charges to award flights?
- Yes. British Airways says every Reward Flight costs Avios plus a fixed cash amount for taxes, fees and carrier charges, and American's AAdvantage FAQ names British Airways and Iberia as partners that add charges to awards on their flights.
