Join online at virginatlantic.com/flying-club/join; the form starts with an email verification step and the application must include your full name as it appears on your passport, date of birth, email address and preferred mailing address (terms clause 2.2). Joining also gives you access to Virgin Red for everyday earning.

Does it cost anything to join Virgin Atlantic Flying Club?
No. Flying Club membership is free and you start earning Virgin Points from your first paid flight.
Is there a minimum age to join Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, and can children have their own account?
Children can have their own account but anyone under 18 needs parental consent: 12 to 17 year olds need a parental consent form and under-12s need a parent or guardian to call Flying Club (clause 2.2). Corporations and other business entities cannot be members (clause 2.1), and you may hold only one account (clause 2.5).

Where do I find my Virgin Atlantic Flying Club membership number?
Your identification membership number is assigned when your enrolment is accepted (terms 2.3.1) and appears in your online account overview and on the digital membership card in the Virgin Atlantic app (12.1).

Does Virgin Atlantic Flying Club issue a physical membership card, and do I need one?
No physical card is needed: all members have a digital membership card in the Virgin Atlantic app (terms 12.1), and any cards issued remain Virgin Atlantic's property (1.8).

Does Virgin Atlantic have an app for managing Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, and what can it do?
Yes. The Virgin Atlantic app holds your digital Flying Club membership card (terms 12.1), and your Flying Club login is also what unlocks the free Starlink Wi-Fi onboard the A350 fleet.
How do I change the name on my Virgin Atlantic Flying Club account after marriage or a legal name change?
You are responsible for telling Flying Club about any change of name, address, email or other details (clause 2.10); contact the Customer Centre with your new details. If you also use Virgin Red you have to notify Virgin Red separately.

I accidentally created two Virgin Atlantic Flying Club accounts. Can they be merged?
Yes. You may only hold one Flying Club account, and if more than one exists in error the accounts are combined and the Virgin Points moved into a single account, less any duplicated bonuses (clause 2.5).

How do I close my Virgin Atlantic Flying Club account, and what happens to my points?
To cancel your membership you call the Virgin Atlantic Customer Centre (clause 2.16), or write to Flying Club if you are leaving because you disagree with a change to the terms (clause 1.6). Virgin Points have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash (clause 3.1.7), so spend them before you close the account.

Can I join Virgin Atlantic Flying Club if I live outside the airline's home country?
Yes. Flying Club is open internationally: the terms carry US-specific clauses (US members agree to arbitration in New York, clause 15.3), there are Flying Club credit cards in both the UK and US, and Virgin Atlantic lists Flying Club phone numbers for around 25 countries.

How do I update my email, address or phone number with Virgin Atlantic Flying Club?
Update your details in your Flying Club account or through the Customer Centre; the terms make you responsible for notifying any change of address, email or other details (clause 2.10). Virgin Red members must update Virgin Red separately.

If I join Virgin Atlantic Flying Club after a flight, can I still claim points for it?
Retrospective claims for Virgin Atlantic flights are accepted for up to six months after the date of travel on presentation of the original or a copy of the boarding pass (clause 3.1.2); the terms set the six-month window as the only time condition. See claiming missing miles.

Does Virgin Atlantic have a separate program for small businesses, and can I earn in both?
No separate small-business programme is listed, and the Flying Club terms say corporations and other business entities are not eligible to be members (clause 2.1). Business travellers simply credit their own Flying Club account.

How are points calculated on Virgin Atlantic flights: by fare paid, by distance, or by a fixed amount?
By distance. You earn a percentage or multiple of Virgin Points for each Base Mile flown, set by the booking class, the cabin and product purchased and your tier (clause 3.2.2); Tier Points are a fixed amount per flight by booking class and cabin (clause 3.2.3).

How many points do I earn per dollar (or per mile flown) on Virgin Atlantic?
Per mile flown, not per dollar: you earn the flight distance in miles times a booking-class percentage, from 25% in Economy Light (T) through 50%, 100% or 150% in Economy Classic (Q/X/N/O, L/U/M, Y/B/R), 150% in Economy Delight (V), 175% or 250% in Premium (H/K, W/S) and 300% (I/Z) or 500% (J/C/D) in Upper Class. Silver adds a 30% bonus and Gold 60%, so a Gold member earns 800% of the miles flown in full-fare Upper Class.

Do basic economy or light fares on Virgin Atlantic earn points?
Yes. Economy Light (booking class T) is a qualifying fare: it earns Virgin Points per Base Mile flown and 25 Tier Points per flight, the same Tier Points as the cheapest Economy Classic classes.
What elite bonus do status members earn on Virgin Atlantic flights?
Silver members earn 30% bonus Virgin Points and Gold members 60% on Virgin Atlantic and SkyTeam partner flights. Red members get 10% bonus Virgin Points on Virgin Atlantic flights once they have completed their first High Five (five different calendar years of flying).
How long after a flight do points post to my Virgin Atlantic Flying Club account?
If your membership number was on the booking, Virgin Points should be credited within 7 days of travel; points from partner companies usually post within 30 days (clause 3.1.4). Points are credited after travel is completed, not at booking (clause 3.1.6).

Do award tickets earn points or status credit on Virgin Atlantic?
Reward seats earn Tier Points but not Virgin Points: clause 4.2.5 says members earn Tier Points on all Virgin Atlantic reward seat bookings and Virgin Points are not awarded on them. Points Plus Money bookings earn both (clause 4.3.6).

Which Virgin Atlantic tickets earn no points at all?
No Virgin Points or Tier Points on free or reduced-rate tickets, including upgrades bought at the airport or through Plusgrade, travel-agent or industry discounts, charter flights operated by Virgin Atlantic, courier fares and complimentary tickets (clause 3.1.6). Reward seats earn Tier Points only.

Do taxes, fees and surcharges on an Virgin Atlantic ticket earn points?
Earning is not based on what you paid: Virgin Points are a multiple of the Base Miles flown by booking class and cabin (clause 3.2.2), so taxes, fees and surcharges neither add to nor reduce what you earn.

If I upgrade a ticket on Virgin Atlantic, do I earn points on the original fare or the upgraded cabin?
On the original booking class. Complimentary and reward upgrades are not reflected in earning, and upgrades bought at the airport or via Plusgrade earn nothing extra (clause 3.1.6).

Do group bookings, tour packages or charter flights on Virgin Atlantic earn points?
Charter flights operated by Virgin Atlantic earn nothing (clause 3.1.6), and the terms do not separately exclude group fares. Virgin Atlantic Holidays packages do earn: 2 Virgin Points per £1 for Red members, 3 for Silver and 4 for Gold, credited to the lead booker.

Do employee, industry or heavily discounted fares on Virgin Atlantic earn points?
No. Free or reduced-rate tickets, including travel-agent and industry discounts, complimentary tickets and staff rebate travel, earn no Virgin Points or Tier Points (clause 3.1.6) and do not count towards High Five stamps.

How do I add my Virgin Atlantic Flying Club number to an existing Virgin Atlantic booking?
Give your Flying Club name and membership number exactly as they appear on your account when booking or at check-in (terms 3.4). If a flight goes uncredited, claim it through the online missing points form within six months of travel (3.1.2), keeping your boarding pass.

Which airlines credit to the program, how much they earn and the rules for booking classes.
Which airlines can I credit to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club?
All SkyTeam member airlines (Delta, Air France and KLM are the ones named on the tier pages) plus a set of additional non-SkyTeam partner airlines that Virgin Atlantic calls its extended flying family. Each partner has its own earning table on the airline partners page.
How are points calculated on partner airline flights credited to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club?
Partner flights earn Virgin Points and Tier Points when booked in a qualifying booking class for that partner (clause 3.2.4). On joint-venture and SkyTeam partners you earn at the marketing carrier's rates, so a Delta, Air France or KLM codeshare earns whether it carries a VS or the partner's flight number (clause 3.3.2).

Which booking classes on partner airlines earn points in Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, and which earn nothing?
Each partner page has its own table. Examples: Virgin Australia earns 200% in J/C/D/A, 100% in Economy Flex, 50% in Economy Choice and 25% in Lite class M; ANA runs from 300% in First down to 30% in L and K; Air New Zealand earns nothing in U, E, M, Q, X, N and O on San Francisco-Auckland and Los Angeles-Rarotonga and in B, R, L, U, M, E, Q, X, N and O on its trans-Tasman codeshares.
Do partner airline flights count toward elite status in Virgin Atlantic Flying Club?
Yes. Tier Points can be earned when travelling with partner airlines in classes that earn Virgin Points (clause 3.2.4), and the tiers page confirms SkyTeam partner flights count towards Silver and Gold.

Does it matter whether a partner flight is ticketed by Virgin Atlantic or by the partner for Virgin Atlantic Flying Club earning?
For most partners you only earn on a codeshare when the flight has a VS prefix and an eligible class (clause 3.3.1). For joint-venture and SkyTeam partners such as Delta, Air France and KLM it does not matter: you earn at the marketing carrier's rates either way (clause 3.3.2).

Virgin Australia, Air New Zealand, All Nippon Airways and South African Airways each earn Virgin Points as a percentage of miles flown plus 10 to 100 Tier Points per flight by cabin and distance, and VS-numbered IndiGo connections within India earn a flat 700 Virgin Points plus 10 Tier Points.
How long do partner airline flights take to post to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club?
Points from partner companies are usually credited within 30 days, against 7 days for Virgin Atlantic's own flights (clause 3.1.4). If they do not appear you have six months from the flight to claim.

Can I claim points for flights taken before I joined Virgin Atlantic Flying Club?
The terms allow retrospective claims for up to six months after the date of travel with a boarding pass (clause 3.1.2) and add no condition about when you joined, so a flight within that window can be claimed after enrolling.

My flight was credited to the wrong program. Can Virgin Atlantic Flying Club move the points?
No. Virgin Atlantic's Delta partner page says points can only be earned in one frequent flyer programme (Flying Club or a partner programme) and cannot be transferred between airlines, so Flying Club cannot move points another airline's programme has already credited. The fix is to get your Flying Club number on the booking before you travel.
Will Virgin Atlantic Flying Club credit a flight if the name on the ticket does not exactly match my account?
Names need to match: clause 3.4.3 says you must give your name as it appears on your Flying Club account, together with your account number, to earn correctly. Fix the account name first (clause 2.10) and then claim.

Yes, in the US: the Virgin Red Rewards Mastercard earns 25 Tier Points per $2,500 of qualifying monthly spend, capped at 50 Tier Points a month, so the tiers page notes that $5,000 a month for eight months reaches Silver. The UK cards earn reward vouchers rather than Tier Points.

How long do bank point transfers to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club take?
American Express Membership Rewards transfers are described as almost instant but can take up to 10 days to show, in units of 500 with a 1,000-point minimum. Tesco Clubcard exchanges credit within seconds if you use the instant exchange, otherwise within 28 days; hotel conversions and the UK credit cards post within 5 days of your statement date.

Can I transfer points back out of Virgin Atlantic Flying Club to a bank program?
No. Points cannot be transferred back to American Express once credited to your Flying Club account, and Tesco Clubcard points likewise cannot return to your Clubcard once exchanged.

Does Virgin Atlantic Flying Club run transfer bonuses from bank programs?
Yes, from time to time: as of September 2026 Tesco Clubcard exchanges get a 30% bonus from 10 August to 23 September 2026 (a £10 voucher gives 2,000 points plus 600 bonus), while the American Express page shows the standard 1:1 rate with no current bonus.
Must the bank account and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club account be in the same name for a transfer?
Yes. Membership Rewards points may only be transferred to the Flying Club account of the main Amex cardholder, and Tesco Clubcard vouchers must be printed in the name of the Clubcard holder making the exchange.

Do Virgin Atlantic Flying Club credit cards have annual fees, and what perks offset them?
The UK Virgin Atlantic Reward card has no fee; the Reward+ card is £160 a year and doubles the earn rate, offers 18,000 bonus points and needs only £10,000 of annual spend (rather than £20,000) for a reward voucher. The US Virgin Red Rewards Mastercard gives 5,000 Virgin Points at each renewal and no foreign transaction fees on travel spend.

Do any Virgin Atlantic Flying Club credit cards include a companion fare or free flight certificate?
Yes. Spending £20,000 a year on the UK Reward card or £10,000 on Reward+ earns a Flying Club reward voucher usable as a companion seat or cabin upgrade, worth up to 75,000 points for Red members and 150,000 for Silver and Gold. US cardholders who spend $15,000 in a year choose one Personal Perk (including a reward voucher), or two perks at $30,000.
Is there a business credit card for Virgin Atlantic Flying Club?
No. Neither the UK credit card page nor the US Virgin Red Rewards Mastercard page lists a business card; both are personal cards.

Can I get a Virgin Atlantic Flying Club credit card if I live outside the United States?
The UK cards are for UK residents aged 18 or over, and the US Virgin Red Rewards Mastercard needs a valid US address and an SSN or ITIN. Outside those two countries there is no Flying Club card, so hotel and bank transfers are the route in.

Does Virgin Atlantic Flying Club have a dining rewards program?
There is no dedicated dining programme in the Flying Club earn list; the closest thing is the US Virgin Red Rewards Mastercard, which earns 2 Virgin Points per $1 on dining and grocery spend (3 per $1 with Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Hotels and Virgin Voyages).
Which hotel chains earn points in Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, and can hotel points be converted?

Yes. e-Rewards Opinion Points earned from surveys can be converted into Virgin Points.
Can I buy points from Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, at what price, and is there a yearly cap?
Yes. Buy Virgin Points, Gift Virgin Points, Transfer Virgin Points and Points Booster are run by Points International Ltd on Virgin Red's behalf (terms 3.6), and buying through that facility is the only permitted way to purchase points (clause 11.1). Points Booster lets you buy single, double or triple points on a flight; prices are shown in your account at checkout.
Does Virgin Atlantic Flying Club run bonus promotions on buying points?
Yes. As of September 2026 a bonus of up to 70% runs from 1 September to 4 October 2026: 20% on 5,000 to 39,999 points, 40% on 40,000 to 79,999, 60% on 80,000 to 124,999 and 70% on 125,000 or more, with the usual 200,000-point annual cap lifted to 400,000 for the promotion. Base price is £15/$25 per 1,000 points plus a £15/$22 transaction fee.
Can I gift points to another Virgin Atlantic Flying Club member?
Yes. Gift Virgin Points is one of the Points International facilities in your account (terms 3.6), and you can also transfer points to another member for a fee. Silver and Gold members can additionally gift reward vouchers to other members.

Virgin Atlantic's Shops Away portal has a Utilities & Telecoms section that, as of September 2026, offers up to 10,500 Virgin Points with Virgin Media UK, up to 7,200 with EE Home Broadband, up to 5,200 with Sky TV & Broadband or Three, up to 4,000 with O2 Mobile, up to 6,800 with ScottishPower and up to 1,756 with Disney+ UK, plus boosted offers of up to 12,000 points on broadband through Uswitch and Confused.com. Can I earn points on fuel or groceries with Virgin Atlantic Flying Club?
Only through a card: the US Virgin Red Rewards Mastercard earns 2 Virgin Points per $1 at grocery stores. No fuel or supermarket earning partner is listed on the Earn Virgin Points page.
Can I earn points on Airbnb, vacation rentals or cruises with Virgin Atlantic Flying Club?
Cruises yes, Airbnb no. Virgin Atlantic Holidays packages that include a cruise earn 2, 3 or 4 Virgin Points per £1 for Red, Silver and Gold members, and Virgin Voyages is both a spend partner and a 3-points-per-dollar category on the US card. No vacation rental partner is listed.
Does in-flight Wi-Fi, duty free or onboard purchases earn points on Virgin Atlantic?

Can I put a Virgin Atlantic Flying Club award on hold before paying?
The Flying Club terms offer no points hold. Virgin Atlantic's customer service plan does let you hold a telephone reservation at the quoted price without payment for 24 hours, or cancel a website booking within 24 hours without penalty, when the booking is made at least 7 days before departure.

On partner airlines a reward is only provisional until the partner confirms it: the terms say Virgin Atlantic may have to request the seats from the partner, responses can take up to 48 hours, and it is the member's responsibility to check that the flights were confirmed (17.1). On Virgin Atlantic's own flights every seat is bookable for points, so a failed booking usually means the cabin sold out.

What does an infant cost on a Virgin Atlantic Flying Club award ticket?
A lap infant under two costs a fixed 1,000 Virgin Points one-way in Economy, 2,500 in Premium or 5,000 in Upper Class, plus passenger taxes. Infants are not eligible for Points Plus Money discounts.

Can an unaccompanied minor travel on a Virgin Atlantic Flying Club award ticket?
Only from age 14. Virgin Atlantic suspended its unaccompanied minor service for children aged 0 to 11 in 2020 and sets 14 as the minimum age for anyone flying alone; a young person aged 14 to 16 travelling alone needs a consent form completed by a parent or guardian and brought to the airport, or they will be denied boarding.

Can I pay pet fees with points on Virgin Atlantic, and do pet fees earn points?
Pets travel only with Virgin Atlantic's prior agreement (conditions of carriage article 16) and the fee is a cash charge; pet transport is not among the ways to spend Virgin Points and is not listed as an earning activity.

Does Virgin Atlantic Flying Club offer military, veteran or government member benefits?
Virgin Atlantic's armed forces offer is a fare discount: members of the British Armed Forces and Ministry of Defence employees get up to £20 off in Economy, £40 in Premium and £60 in Upper Class on new return flight-only bookings made on virginatlantic.com, using a code from the Defence Discount Service. It applies only to Virgin Atlantic-operated flights departing the UK (London to Havana is excluded) and cannot be booked through the contact centre.
Does Virgin Atlantic Flying Club offer student or youth benefits?
Virgin Atlantic's student offer is for students flying from India: book Bangalore, Delhi or Mumbai to London, Canada or any US destination in Economy Classic, Delight or Premium and you get 69kg of hold baggage (3 x 23kg), or 87kg (2 x 32kg plus 1 x 23kg) in Upper Class. It covers the outbound journey to the first stopover on Virgin Atlantic-operated flights only, excludes Economy Light and needs a valid student visa at check-in; book through the India Contact Centre on 1800 102 3000.

Are there special award rules for medical or bereavement travel in Virgin Atlantic Flying Club?
Virgin Atlantic's conditions of carriage deal with this at ticket level. If you fall ill after starting a journey, the ticket's validity can be extended until you are fit to travel, on an official medical certificate (clause 7.5a-b); if a companion you are travelling with dies during the itinerary, or an immediate family member dies after you have begun it, minimum stays can be waived or validity extended by up to 45 days from the date of death, on a valid death certificate (7.5d-f).

How do I request wheelchair or accessibility assistance on a Virgin Atlantic Flying Club award booking?
Tell Virgin Atlantic at the time of booking, and for airport assistance give at least 48 hours' notice before the scheduled departure (conditions of carriage article 15); the request goes through the Special Assistance Department and applies to reward bookings like any other ticket.

Can I book group awards for more than nine people in Virgin Atlantic Flying Club?
The terms treat 10 or more passengers in Economy, or 8 or more in Premium or Upper Class, as a group booking, and group bookings cannot be upgraded with points (4.4.4); every seat is otherwise bookable with points while the cabin has space.

What are the most recent major changes to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club?
New terms on 30 October 2024 raised reward change and cancellation fees from £30/$50 to £70/$100, replaced the Gold companion and upgrade rewards with reward vouchers valid 24 months, and added High Five (12,000 points for flying in five different years, stamps credited from January 2026). From 13 March 2025 qualifying Virgin Atlantic Holidays bookings earn double Tier Points, and from 5 November 2025 only the changed sector of a reward booking is repriced.

Has Virgin Atlantic Flying Club changed its name or currency recently?
Yes. On 24 September 2020 Flying Club miles were renamed Virgin Points, with one Virgin Point for every mile in your account, and Virgin Atlantic said the change did not affect their value, tier benefits or the ways to earn and spend. The same change scrapped the old rule that miles expired after 36 months without activity, and the currency is now owned by Virgin Red while Virgin Atlantic runs Flying Club membership and tiers.

When did Virgin Atlantic Flying Club last devalue its award prices?
The last big change to reward pricing took effect on 30 October 2024, when Virgin Atlantic made every seat on its own flights bookable with Virgin Points, including for upgrades, at prices that move with demand like cash fares. Its announcement said Saver reward seats would cost the same as before or less (New York from 6,000 Virgin Points), and the same relaunch raised points earning on Upper Class tickets by up to 50% and on Premium by up to 75%.

What changes has Virgin Atlantic Flying Club announced for the coming year?
Bonus Tier Points on qualifying Virgin Atlantic Holidays bookings continue in windows through 31 January 2027 (200 Tier Points, rising to 300 for bookings between 7 and 20 April 2026), and High Five rewards keep accruing for every five calendar years flown.
How does Virgin Atlantic Flying Club notify members of changes?
Changes take effect on notice to members, which can be immediate for programme changes (terms 10.5), and if you disagree you can end your membership by writing to Flying Club (1.6). Terminating the programme requires six months' notice (10.6).

What changed most recently in how Virgin Atlantic Flying Club elite status is earned?
Two additions: since 13 March 2025 Virgin Atlantic Holidays packages (three nights or more, £4,000 or more) earn double Tier Points on their Virgin Atlantic flights plus bonus Tier Points in promotional windows, and the US Virgin Red Rewards Mastercard now earns up to 50 Tier Points a month from spend. Thresholds remain 400 for Silver and 1,000 for Gold.

Virgin Atlantic started flying in 1984, so it marked 40 years in 2024; its corporate history page dates the Delta partnership to 2012 and the extension with Air France-KLM to 2019.
