How do I change the name on my Cathay Pacific Asia Miles account after marriage or a legal name change?
Your membership name has to match your travel document, so after a marriage or legal name change go to the Profile section of your Cathay account and submit a name change request with your membership number and a copy of the new passport or ID; Cathay updates the record once it has verified the document.

I accidentally created two Cathay Pacific Asia Miles accounts. Can they be merged?
Each member may hold only one account. The terms let Asia Miles Limited terminate duplicate accounts and cancel their miles balance and any awards redeemed, so contact Cathay to have the accounts consolidated rather than leaving both open.

You can terminate your membership at any time, but all outstanding Asia Miles, Status Points and unused benefits are cancelled when you do. Cathay says it normally completes verification and closure within 15 working days.

What do I do if I am locked out of my Cathay Pacific Asia Miles account?
Cathay locks an account temporarily after several failed sign-in attempts. To get back in, go to the Retrieve your password page and reset your credentials; if that fails (for example because you no longer control the registered email), contact Cathay through the Contact us page so Customer Care can verify you and unlock the account.
If I join Cathay Pacific Asia Miles after a flight, can I still claim miles for it?
Yes, within a narrow window: newly enrolled members can claim missing miles for flights taken up to 30 days before their enrolment date, using the online Missing mileage request form (claims open seven days after the flight). Anything older than that is not credited, and approved claims post within six to eight weeks.

How many miles do I earn per dollar (or per mile flown) on Cathay Pacific?
Neither per dollar nor per mile flown: Cathay Pacific flights earn a fixed number of Asia Miles (and Status Points) set by the cabin, fare type and one of six distance zones from Hong Kong, from ultra-short (1 to 750 miles, e.g. Taipei) up to ultra-long (7,501 miles or more, e.g. New York). Do basic economy or light fares on Cathay Pacific earn miles?
Yes, but at the lowest rate. Cathay's cheapest Economy Light fare type still earns Asia Miles and Status Points, just fewer than Economy Essential or Flex, and its earning was cut further for flights from 20 August 2025 while Essential and Flex stayed the same on most routes.

What elite bonus do status members earn on Cathay Pacific flights?
None. Unlike most programmes, Cathay pays no automatic status bonus on Asia Miles: Silver, Gold and Diamond members earn the same fare-class amount as Green members, and the terms only provide for bonus miles through time-limited partner or Cathay promotions. Status instead brings service benefits such as lounges, seats, baggage and Wi-Fi.

How long after a flight do miles post to my Cathay Pacific Asia Miles account?
Cathay's FAQ allows up to 4 to 6 weeks after you complete the trip for Asia Miles and Status Points to be credited, although flights on Cathay Pacific itself usually show up much sooner. If nothing has posted after seven days you can file the online Missing mileage request form (up to six months after the flight); approved claims are credited within six to eight weeks.

It depends how you upgraded: a paid upgrade or a Bookable Upgrade earns Asia Miles and Status Points on the upgraded cabin, while an Upgrade Award redeemed with miles (or any other type of upgrade) earns on the original cabin you paid for.

Do infant or child tickets on Cathay Pacific earn miles?
Only into the child's own account: Cathay awards Asia Miles only to the member who actually flew, and the names on the ticket, passport and membership must be identical, so a parent cannot collect miles for a child's or infant's seat. Children can hold their own membership from age two.

Can I credit different flights on the same ticket to different programs, or must the whole ticket go to Cathay Pacific Asia Miles?
Each flight can only be credited to one programme, but the choice is made per flight rather than per ticket: Cathay says to give the membership number of your preferred programme at reservation and show the same card at check-in, so you can present your Cathay number for some segments and another programme's number for others. A flight can never earn in Asia Miles and another programme at the same time.
Do Cathay Pacific Asia Miles elite members earn a bonus on partner airline flights?
No. Cathay status carries no mileage bonus on partner flights (or on Cathay's own); partner flights earn the percentage of distance set by the partner's fare-class chart regardless of tier, and the only bonus miles the terms contemplate are promotional.

My flight was credited to the wrong program. Can Cathay Pacific Asia Miles move the miles?
Cathay's rule is that a flight is credited to one programme only, the one whose number was on the booking at check-in, and its FAQ gives no process for moving miles already posted elsewhere into Asia Miles. If the other programme reverses the credit, you can then file a missing-miles claim with Cathay within six months of the flight.
Will Cathay Pacific Asia Miles credit a flight if the name on the ticket does not exactly match my account?
The terms require the name given to the airline to exactly match the name registered on your account, so a mismatched ticket is likely to be refused; correct your profile or the booking before you fly.

Find out which rule the claim failed and refile if you still can: the terms let Asia Miles reject a claim sent without the required supporting documents, or with documents it believes were not issued by the partner, and they consider claims only where your membership number was quoted at reservation and given at check-in or payment. Can I transfer miles back out of Cathay Pacific Asia Miles to a bank program?
Not to bank programmes, and the terms say Asia Miles cannot move to other airline programmes either. The one two-way route is Marriott Bonvoy, which converts in both directions with Asia Miles.
Does Cathay Pacific Asia Miles run transfer bonuses from bank programs?
Yes, and Cathay itself runs them: the US "Mega Miles 2026" campaign paid 10% bonus Asia Miles on registered conversions of US bank and hotel partner points until 28 August 2026, and Hong Kong cardholders get a registration-based Points Conversion Campaign most quarters (the 24 August to 23 September 2026 round added 10%, capped at 8,000 bonus miles, on conversions of at least 20,000 miles). Must the bank account and Cathay Pacific Asia Miles account be in the same name for a transfer?
For American Express Membership Rewards in the US, yes: the Asia Miles account must be in your name or in the name of an Additional Card Member on your Card Account, and that Additional Card must have been issued at least 90 days before you link their Asia Miles account. Amex transfers cannot be reversed once made.

Yes, Milesback (shop.asiamiles.com): click through to merchants such as Dyson, Nespresso, Harrods, Net-a-Porter, Sephora and Taobao and earn per HKD10 spent, from HKD10 = 1.25 miles at Taobao up to HKD10 = 12.75 miles at Nespresso during the current promotion, plus a 500-mile welcome bonus for a first purchase of HKD1,600 or more.

A Flight Award can be cancelled for a refund of the miles as long as the ticket is completely unused and the request is made before the ticket expires (unused tickets are refundable within 2 years of issue), so in practice you can cancel right up to departure; once any segment is flown, or after a no-show, the miles are not refundable. The cancellation fee is USD120 or 17,000 Asia Miles as of 2026.
What happens to my miles if I no-show a Cathay Pacific Asia Miles award?
A no-show does not automatically forfeit them: an issued Flight Award stays refundable as long as the ticket is completely unused and within its one-year validity, so you can still cancel afterwards for the USD120 or 17,000-mile fee and get the miles, taxes and surcharges back. If you flew the outbound and no-showed the return, the ticket is partly used and nothing is refunded.

How long does Cathay Pacific Asia Miles take to redeposit miles after a cancellation?
Cathay says refund requests are normally processed within 7 calendar days (longer for interline itineraries, missing information or weather disruption), with the unused Asia Miles credited back to your account and taxes and surcharges returned to the original card. You can track the request under Manage Booking for 90 days after submitting it.
Can I change or cancel a Cathay Pacific Asia Miles award online, or must I call?
Date changes on a straightforward Cathay Pacific Flight Award can be done online in Manage Booking for USD50 or 7,500 Asia Miles per ticket per passenger, provided the origin and destination stay the same, the new date is within ticket validity and award seats are open. Awards with more than two stopovers, open-jaws, mixed carriers, upgrade or companion awards and partner-airline awards must go through Customer Care, which adds USD40 or 6,000 Asia Miles; cancellations and refunds are also handled by the contact centre.

What are my rights if Cathay Pacific changes the schedule of my award flight?
If Cathay Pacific cancels or reschedules the flight, it says it will automatically rebook you on the next available Cathay flight in the cabin you originally booked, and award bookings made on cathaypacific.com or in the app can be adjusted in Manage Booking under the special ticketing guidelines issued for that disruption. Can I cancel just the return of a round-trip Cathay Pacific Asia Miles award?
No. A Flight Award is refundable only if the ticket is completely unused, and rebooking is limited to changing the date or flight number on the same itinerary, so once you have flown the outbound the return cannot be cancelled for a redeposit.

Does Cathay Pacific Asia Miles offer a 24-hour free cancellation on awards?
Not for Flight Awards: Cathay's 24-hour free cancellation is for members who book cash or Miles Plus Cash tickets directly with Cathay at least 8 days (192 hours) before departure, and the page states that Asia Miles flight award bookings are excluded. To drop an award you pay the normal USD120 or 17,000-mile cancellation fee.
Are the change and cancellation rules different for partner awards in Cathay Pacific Asia Miles?
The same change and cancellation rules apply to partner awards, with one exception: HK Express awards cannot be rebooked, reissued or refunded. Partner awards also open for booking on each partner's own schedule.

If I cancel a Cathay Pacific Asia Miles award booked with miles that have since expired, do I get them back?
Cathay does not promise it. Its FAQ says refunded miles are simply credited back to the account they were redeemed from, and separately that Flight Award tickets are valid for a year from issue but must be issued before the miles expire; there is no statement that miles which would have lapsed in the meantime are revived on refund. Under the activity-based system this rarely bites, because any earning or redemption in the previous 18 months keeps your whole balance alive, but a refund itself does not count as qualifying activity.

What does Cathay Pacific do if my award flight is cancelled on the day, and can I be rebooked on partners?
The terms expressly contemplate you being placed on other airlines' flights for a disrupted segment; if that happens, Asia Miles and Status Points are credited on the original itinerary you booked, not the replacement flight.

There is no self-service hold: Flight Award tickets are issued automatically once the booking is complete, before the ticketing deadline set by Cathay or the partner. Diamond members (and companions on the same booking) can get an extended ticketing deadline by booking through Customer Care, and the reservation is cancelled if it is not ticketed by then.

Cathay's version is "early standby": you can stand by for an earlier flight on the same date and route, but it is a fare-type feature included only with Flex fares (Light and Essential do not get it) rather than a status benefit, so Silver, Gold and Diamond members on cheaper fares do not receive it free. Which joint ventures is Cathay Pacific part of, and what do they mean for Cathay Pacific Asia Miles members?
Cathay Pacific runs no revenue-sharing passenger joint venture; its deep partnerships are codeshare and cooperation agreements, chiefly the Lufthansa Group deal signed in March 2017 that put the CX code on 14 European destinations via Lufthansa, Swiss and Austrian and their codes on Cathay flights to Auckland, Cairns, Melbourne and Sydney, alongside oneworld and bilateral codeshares such as Air Canada and Iberia (the only true joint business is on the cargo side with Lufthansa Cargo). For members the practical effect is that Asia Miles can be earned and redeemed on those codeshare routes even though Lufthansa Group is not in oneworld.

A child or infant occupying a seat needs the same Asia Miles as an adult once registered as a Redemption Group Nominee; infants under two who do not occupy a seat cannot be upgraded with miles, and any upgrade requires buying them a child fare.

Can an unaccompanied minor travel on a Cathay Pacific Asia Miles award ticket?
Yes. Cathay requires children aged 6 to under 12 travelling without an adult of 18 or over to use its unaccompanied minor service (optional for 12 to 17 year olds), and the service is arranged through Customer Care rather than online, so book the Flight Award for the child first and then call to add the UM service and pay its fee. Note that unaccompanied minors are excluded from the advance and extra-legroom seat reservation benefits.

Can I pay pet fees with miles on Cathay Pacific, and do pet fees earn miles?
No on both counts. Cathay Pacific carries pets only as cargo through Cathay Cargo (guide and assistance dogs excepted), and since 1 September 2025 shipments must be booked by an IPATA or ATA member, an IATA-accredited forwarder or a Live Animals Regulations-certified shipper, so the charge is a cargo invoice paid to that agent rather than an airline fee you could settle with Asia Miles, and it earns no miles.

Does Cathay Pacific Asia Miles offer student or youth benefits?
Cathay's student offer is its Student Fare: with proof of student status checked at the airport (an ISIC card, student visa, student number or an admission letter), you get discounts on selected fare classes, one extra checked bag on applicable routes (23kg in Economy and Premium Economy, 32kg in Business) and waived change fees (one free change on Economy Light, unlimited on other fare types, fare difference still payable), and the tickets still earn Asia Miles and Status Points. How do I request wheelchair or accessibility assistance on a Cathay Pacific Asia Miles award booking?
The same way as on a paid ticket: once the Flight Award is confirmed, contact Cathay Customer Care as far ahead of the flight as you can (groups of 10 or more at least 48 hours before departure) to book airport wheelchair assistance, the onboard aisle wheelchair and help moving between seat and lavatory. Personal wheelchairs are carried free for passengers with disabilities.

The big one is the 2027 programme: from 1 January 2027 Status Points no longer reset after each status upgrade, a new Diamond Exec tier sits between Diamond and the invitation-only Diamond Plus, rollover rises to 300, 600 and 1,200 points for Gold, Diamond and Diamond Exec, and long-standing Diamonds get a Diamond Membership Reserve of complimentary years. Separately, fuel surcharges rose on 1 August 2026.
